International recognition for Insignia
Following the Car of the Year 2009 and Top Gear Executive Car of the Year awards, the Insignia continues to scoop the most prestigious international motoring awards and plaudits. In January, an international panel has recognized Mark Adams, Vice-President GM Europe Design, for his work on the design of the new Opel Insignia with the “DESIGNBEST 2009” Award from AUTOBEST, organizers of the event. Turkey’s jury member Okan Altan presented the trophy in a ceremony in Istanbul.
AUTOBEST is the only international independent jury focusing on best-buy choice for mainstream customers. AUTOBEST jury members hail from central and eastern Europe, representing a virtual market with more than 300 million people.
The Opel Insignia was recognised again by an international expert jury for its outstanding design, winning the prestigious red dot award for product design. The international red dot design award – allotted since 1955 under the aegis of the Design Zentrum North Rhine Westphalia in Essen, Germany – ranks among the largest and most renowned design prizes in the world. It is granted to products by an international panel of design experts who base their criteria on degree of innovation, functionality and formal quality.
The Insignia has also been winning accolades for safety, beginning with a Five Star NCAP Safety Rating. With an excellent result of 35 points out of a maximum 37 and five stars for the adults occupant rating, the European traffic institution Euro NCAP has confirmed the safety of the new Opel Insignia. The Insignia is also awarded four stars for child protection and two for pedestrian protection; the best ratings given so far in the large family car segment.
Experts have also been applauding the Insignia seats as a the best in town. With a height-adjustment range of 65 millimetres and a length -adjustment range of 270 millimetres, the Insignia’s seats use the most up-to-date technology to create new levels of comfort and safety in this class. Acknowledging this achievement, Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V (AGR), an independent panel of ergonomics experts and doctors in Germany, has awarded the Insignia’s Sport seats its coveted seal of approval.
We're looking forward to seeing what else the Insignia will bring in this year.
